Nothing a day at the bech won't fix

The trip had started out on the wrong foot. There is nothing like having to spend two days in the worst American Airport (Dulles) while waiting for ten hour flight. Well a few hours in Rio fixed that problem. Like the Carioca's say the beach is free.

It rained most of the first week. Since we were in Itaipiuacu, this is not necessarily a problem. I managed to drink a lot of beer with the family and read two books. The second week was gorgeous. That meant plenty of time to hang at the beach and do a little running.

Zigging when maybe I should have zagged

As a rule I never write directly about work. The reasons should be fairly obvious. No one wants to get fired or write something when they are pissed that they will regret. I am writing about work today because it was my last day. It became obvious to me in mid September that it was time to go. I had a great time for most of the two and half years on the job. I got good experience, often in how not to run an IT department That is pretty standard around the world. All jobs have their ups and downs. However this post is not really about that. I wanted to thank all the great people I have met and hopefully become friends with. I will dearly miss working with all of you. Whether it has been expensive meals in Toronto or lunch in Tucson, it's been a great ride. Here are some memories

iPhone review

While trying to work the motivation to write that Self Performance Evaluation, I thought I would finally review the first month of the iPhone. I have been using it for about a month and today was the first day that battery got totally used. I had not charged it since Monday night. It is also the first personal email that I have actually sent from my computer rather than the phone. The bells and whistles are great. There are a few things missing but you rarely notice. Now if they can get the thing up to 80 gigs so I can stop carrying the Ipod too. The camera is pretty good considering there is no flash and no zoom. Here is a little Photo essay from the first month
